Research Interests
We study the behavior of interfaces in soft matter, principally in liquids. I am seeking students to investigate ion interactions at liquid interfaces. This area of research addresses basic questions on the behavior of ions near interfaces, which are important in a range of scientific and technological areas. These include interfaces in complex fluids which underlie many industrial processes and domestic products, water purification, energy applications, and the separation and purification elements that are critical for high-tech applications. We do experiments in our UIC lab and at the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory.
