Research Interest:
As ischemic episodes can precipitate in myocardial infarction (MI) and peripheral arterial disease (PAD), we are investigating the biology of stem cells in order to rejuvenate ischemic tissues by re-establishing blood flow.
For our experiments, we use cell biology, genetic approaches, small molecules, cultured cells and mice tissues.

Minimum time commitment in hours per week: 8

Qualifications of a Student:
College student (minimum 3.4 GPA), background in Cell and Molecular Biology, preferably with 1-2 years of laboratory experience - but not required. High motivation and high energy level will be considered.

Brief Summary of what is expected from the student:
Assist graduate students and postdocts in their laboratory experiments, attend seminars and work in progress meetings. Assist principal investigator in experiments including genotyping, tissue sectioning, staining, PCR, RT-PCR, microscopy, record keeping, discussion of results and preparation of general biochemical solutions.
