Research Interest:
I conduct studies on Food is Medicine in Black women with hypertension. Currently, we are developing and piloting a small Food is Medicine pilot in Mile Square Health clinics. I am also starting up a Food is Medicine pilot for Black breast cancer survivors that will conducted remotely.
I have a plethora of opportunities to work patient and non-patient facing research that spans big data sets ( e.g. All of Us), GIS (e.g. examining access to health services for residents living in food apartheid communities), surveys (e.g. food environment), and clinical research ( as described above). Minimum time commitment in hours per week: 10 Qualifications of a Student:
Basic writing and computer skills; ability to use Excel; interest in health promotion, public health and community engagement; must have or be willing to obtain CITI (IRB) certification;have experience with literature reviews or willing to be trained. Brief Summary of what is expected from the student:
The student will have the opportunity to assist with any of the following: recruitment efforts for clinical research, baseline assessments for participants, wrangling quantitative and qualitative data, lab assay kit analysis, conducting literature searches, and will have the opportunity to work on future publications.
The student will also be encouraged to provide substantial input on the research project.
