Mostly A's and B's in biology and chemistry classes. Prefer students who have completed Bios352 or Bios452/454. Please list biology, chemistry, physics classes completed. Most students in the lab are Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry majors.
Bioinformatics students are also welcome - but will need some knowledge of protein structure and function - for example from biochemistry classes. Brief Summary of what is expected from the student:
Students are expected to meet with the professor each week and complete assigned background reading. Projects involve some computer-based work and some in lab hands-on experiments. Students are expected to spend at least 8 hours per week on the project. If accepted, students will need to register for Bios399 for the semester. Capstone projects might also be available for Honors College students.
Students who are members of groups who are under-represented in science and engineering careers are expecially welcome to apply - including, but not limited to, students who are women, African-American, Latinx, Native American, Pacific Islanders, the first in their family to attend college, and students with disabilities.
