Research Interest:
My research focuses broadly on innovation, both from a company's and a consumer's perspective. Given the broad perspective, I usually cross disciplinary boundaries, working with design, engineering, communications, and medical researchers. Taking a company's perspective, I seek to answer questions such as: how much value innovation creates for firms and at what cost; why some firms are better at creating more novel solutions; and how innovation teams make decisions. From a consumer's viewpoint, my studies investigate questions such as: how consumers evaluate and use new products; how consumers attain their goals more effectively; and how innovation contributes to making people’s lives healthier. Minimum time commitment in hours per week: 6-9 Qualifications of a Student:
I am interested in working with students who are proactive, bring initiative, are detail-oriented, and are interested in developing new skills and learning about today's dynamic workplace by engaging in research projects related to business and innovation. A commitment of 6-9 hours per week will earn you 2-3 hours of course credit. A minimum of 3.0 GPA and junior or senior standing are strongly preferred. Research assistants will be likely engaged across the spectrum of research activities, such as reviewing and synthesizing the literature, entering and analyzing data, and developing presentation deks, among others.
