Brief Summary of what is expected from the student:
We view the undergraduate research experience generally as a three semester commitment. The first semester generally entails getting acquainted with the lab and current research projects. First semester activities generally include IRB training, and training on literature reviews, databases, data entry, data analysis, and report writing. Activities largely entail data entry, transcribing, lit reviews, along with some basic data analysis and report writing. In the second semester, data entry continues with more analysis and report writing, and students are expected to begin to construct an independent project using existing data. In the third semester, students will devote most of their time to their independent project which may result in a capstone project, research presentation, or LAS undergraduate research initiate project. In the past some advanced students have worked towards getting their study published in an academic journal.
