Research Interest:
Our lab is interested in the mechano-biological mechanisms that govern cartilage homeostasis. We have ongoing projects looking at the signaling mechanisms regulating cartilage growth and the pathogenesis of degenerative diseases such as arthritis (osteoarthritis). Our lab works at the intersection of several different disciplines. Advanced students will have the opportunity to gain experience in: Histology Immunohistochemistry Cell culture Mouse models Collecting kinematic data with high speed video Programming in Matlab Biomechanics Micro-Computerized Tomography Shape analysis The lab is small, open, friendly, and has lots of excellent collaborators. Minimum time commitment in hours per week: 10-20

Qualifications of a Student:
Preferred standing: Junior or Senior Preferred major: Biomedical Engineering (Bioengineering), Mechanical Engineering, Biology, Pre-med, Physical Anthropology No previous research experience is necessary You must be committed to completing a project and being an active member of the lab.

Brief Summary of what is expected from the student:
You are expected to work independently on your project after you have been trained. You are expected to meet on a regular basis with the PI to discuss the progress of your project. You are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours each week.
