I am working on two related projects (1) collecting election promises made by the two major parties in the US, since the 1960. Once these pledges are identified, the project investigates whether or not each promise has been fulfilled (acted upon by either Congress or the president) (2) the second project is more contemporary and looks at which promises from the 2016 election campaign were posted on Twitter (by candidates and parties). Minimum time commitment in hours per week: 5 or more Qualifications of a Student:
Min GPA 3.0 preferred, although I will consider students with lower GPA. Brief Summary of what is expected from the student:
Research assistants will 'code' election platforms for promises/pledges, and will look into congressional databases for information on pledge fulfillment.
