Research Interest:
I am an expert on health disparities in pain management. My long-term goal is to reduce health disparities in the pain control of patients with sickle cell disease by understanding the contribution of perceived unfairness to their unrelieved pain. I believe that such knowledge could help us identify aspects of interpersonal conflicts that serve as pivotal barriers to adequate pain control, and could lead to better pain treatment for the 100,000 Americans suffering lifelong with sickle cell disease, most of whom are of African descent.

Minimum time commitment in hours per week: 10

Qualifications of a Student:
I am interested in working with a nursing student in the honors college who is enthusiastic about research. The student must have taken Nurs 322 or be currently enrolled in the course. The student should have a minimum GPA of 3.5. Prior research experience is not required but is a bonus.

Brief Summary of what is expected from the student:
The student will be required to help with search for research articles, organize the articles in a grid, and help with manuscript preparation. In addition, the student will help with data entry, data analysis, and poster preparation. If needed, the student will also help with subject recruitment.

NOTE: This researcher is currently not accepting applications for the Undergraduate Research Experience program.
