Participating in the Chancellor’s Undergraduate Research Awards program: Yes

Research Interest:
Genetics and epigenetics of psychiatric diseases, particularly bipolar disorder, schizophrenia. A wide range of biological and computational technologies have been applied by my lab to study genetic and epigenetic contributors of the diseases, including microarray, next-generation sequencing. As one of the leading investigators, recently funded by NIH to study epigenomics in human brain.

Minimum time commitment in hours per week: 10

Qualifications of a Student:
Excellent writing and presentation skill is required. prefer major computer science, or statistics, with with basic knowledge of molecular biology; Alternatively, skillful hands in molecular wet-lab will be good candidates too.

Brief Summary of what is expected from the student:
training and practice on genetic/genomic data analysis; participating real reseach project; with possibility of co-authoring papers, attending conferences. In our group, you will gain knowledge about the latest development of molecular genetics of mental health and human behavior. You will have opportunity to access the state-of-art technologies, and work on the forefront of the research field. We have close collaborations with University of Chicago and several other Institutes. Student will have opportunity to interact with faculties from those Universities too.
