Research Interest:
The Mood and Anxiety Disorders Research Program uses magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI, DTI, sMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG) of event-related potentials (ERP) as predominant tools to assess brain circuit function as they relate to emotion, affect regulation and motivation. We study patients across the lifespan, from childhood to adulthood and appreciates a longitudinal view of illness, from emergence of illness and to recovery. The Program is multi-disclipinary and patient-oriented, and aims to discover the behavioral and brain mechanisms that implement the regulation of affect and motivational salience in humans. The Program seeks to answer two main questions: 1) What are the nodes of brain dysfunction in mood and anxiety disorders; and 2) How do treatments work and for whom? Ultimately, the Program aims to make current treatments better and to identify new treatments. Minimum time commitment in hours per week: 12 Qualifications of a Student:
- **Must be detail-oriented, hard-working, professional, prompt, reliable and good with people.** You will be helping make the lab run; therefore, your commitment and reliability are extremely important. - Preference will be given to students who can commitment to the lab for 1 year or more, due to learning curve involved. - Prefer sophmores or above Brief Summary of what is expected from the student:
You will help administer and perform research funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Tasks may involve screening potential participants on the phone, scheduling participants, collecting electrophysiological brain data (EEG) from partcipants, delivering electrical brain stimulation (tDCS) to participants, processing EEG data and data entry.
