Research Interest:
Editor of the Electronic Book Review, an on-line general interest review of literary books and media; For students interested in a publishing career, EBR offers training in copy editing, xml markup, and grant writing. Additionally, advanced undergraduates are invited to draft entries for the Electronic Literature Directory, that will be considered for publication, by a process of peer review from already published scholars in the developing field of native digital, 'electronic literature.' The journal's contribution to the field is being recognized by the publication (in 2019) of two volumes in the Bloomsbury Academics series, collecting essays from the journal over the past two decades.

Minimum time commitment in hours per week: 3

Qualifications of a Student:
Good organization and correspondence skills; Interest in contemporary fiction, poetry, and arts. Ability to range among Open Access sites to locate works by authors of interest, who will be identified by the professor, and the editorial groups at ebr and the ELD.

Brief Summary of what is expected from the student:
Weekly meetings at the Professor's office in University Hall. to discuss sites we've been monitoring and reading. At these meetings we will also identify letters that need to go out to individuals within our extensive network of researchers. Most of these will be variations on a template. Some require a more personal approach. Regularly, at the rate of about ten monthly, the student will be asked to add members to our ebr lists (operated by UIC). We'll also be checking reports from the listserv and making updates when necessary.
