Research Interest:
We are studying the mechanisms of the trafficking of signaling molecules by kinesins moving on microtubules to regulate the cell function, particularly dynamic cell sprouting in angiogenesis. In angiogenesis-related diseases such as cancer and blinding eye diseases, excessive VEGF/VEGFR2 signaling causes angiogenesis of leaky blood vessels. Inhibition of VEGF/VEGFR2 signaling is a promising strategy for the therapy of such diseases. Our new strategy to tackle angiogenesis-related diseases is to regulate the trafficking of VEGFR2 to inhibit pathological angiogenesis in such diseases.
