Research Interest:
Our major research interest is understanding the factors that control cell proliferation and differentiation in the developing mammalian central nervous system. The ongoing research of the lab seeks to understand the function and control of these pathways in normal and abnormal brain development and brain tumor cells. Abnormalities in normal neural development underlie a number of human disorders, including schizophrenia, mental retardation, and autism, and uncontrolled proliferation/abnormal differentiation play a critical role in brain cancers. The identification and better understanding of these key pathways can lead to improved diagnostic tools and novel drug targets in these important human disorders. #neuroscience #development #mouse #transgenic #knockout
